The “Global Climate Change Photography Awards” by Alarko Carrier Took Off

The applications for the ninth “Global Climate Change Photography Awards” by Alarko Carrier can now be submitted. The awards competition is open to anyone interested in photography on an amateur or professional basis, to submit photos successfully presenting the dramatic effects of climate change.
The winner of the competition will be rewarded an iPhone 13, in conclusion of the review process by a jury including artist Ceyda Düvenci as well. A photo about the recycling process, which helps protect the environment, will get Alarko Carrier Special Award.

Alarko Carrier intends to raise awareness about “Climate Change”, one of the most pressing problems of the world we live in. The awards aim to show the effects of climate change on our world. The submissions are accepted between 11th of August and 25th of September.

All amateur or professional photographers who wish to take part need to do is to share their photos through @alarkocarrier Instagram account or @alarko_carrier Twitter account, using the tag #AlarkoCarrierKüreselİklim2022.

Special Award for Recycling

The Global Climate Change Awards have been very special events for photo enthusiasts for nine years now, and are recently expanded with a special award category. Hope-inspiring photos about the recycling process, which helps protect the environment, will get Alarko Carrier Special Award.

World-Class Review Process

The review process for the awards, which have been very popular events for the past 8 years, also underwent an update this year. The jury comprised of renowned photographers is now to be accompanied by a preliminary selection committee of 5 members. The competition process is revised with reference to world standards, will no longer entail a preliminary voting by the public. The “Top 50” photos to reflect the striking effects of global climate change from among the applications will be named by the preliminary selection committee. The 50 photos thus named will be submitted to the final jury. The jury will first vote on the 50 photos submitted to it, to determine the top 20 photos. The 20 photos thus named will be reviewed individually by the jury meeting in person, to name the 13 winners.

The Members of the Jury

The jury is comprised of experts in this field. Journalist and Photographer Adem Meleke, Documentary Producer and Photo Journalist Coşkun Aral, Photographer Dilan Bozyel, Photo Editor and Photo Journalist of Milliyet Daily Ercan Arslan, and Photographer Mehmet Turgut will take part in the jury. Moreover Niv Garih, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alarko Carrier, and Serhat Bayram, Advertising Agency Serdesin’s President will provide input for the jury’s selection process.

The partner of Taş Kağıt Makas Emotion Workshop and artist Ceyda Düvenci will also be a member of the jury, sitting alongside professional photographers. The participants will be announced on 17 October, 2022.

The photographers who submitted the top 13 photos named in the awards will win the following:

• First Place: iPhone 13 128 GB mobile phone 
• Second Place: GoPro Max 360 Action Camera 10199518
• Third Place: CANON SX70 HS BK Compact Photo Camera
• Special Awards: LG Cinebeam PH510PG 1280x720 550 ANSI Lumen HD Projector (for fourth, fifth, and sixth photos named by the jury)
• Placement Awards: TRY 1000 worth of gift certificates from Decathlon (for seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth photos named by the jury)
• Alarko Carrier Special Award: Arzum AR1158PRO Vahaa Smart Garden
• All winners in top 13 will also get “12 months subscription for Atlas magazine”, in addition to the awards specified above.

The finalists and award winners will be announced on Alarko Carrier’s official web site and social media accounts.

How to apply?

• The participants should submit their photos on “Global Climate Change” through Instagram and Twitter using the #AlarkoCarrierKüreselİklim2022 tag, and mentioning @alarkocarrier for Instagram and @alarko_carrier for Twitter in the “notes” under the photos.
• One can submit the photos through either or both of Instagram. A single photo can be submitted through both channels. One can also submit different sets of photos through the two channels.  
• The shares should be “Public” to be considered as valid applications for the awards.
• The photos matching the applicable criteria will be published regularly on Alarko Carrier’s micro site yarisma.alarko-carrier.com.tr
